Back to About Lexus As a result of customer feedback, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is preparing a recall of some Lexus LS 600h and LS 460 models equipped with the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).
The precise number of cars involved is still being finalised but initial figures show approximately 11,500 vehicles are affected globally. We are anticipating around 40 units to be affected in the UK market. No other Lexus vehicles are affected by this issue. This matter has been under investigation by TMC since March this year who have received approximately 10 complaints in Japan. No accidents have been reported relating to this issue and we have received no reported cases of this concern in the UK market.VGRS is a feature that enables easier handling during low-speed driving and provides better stability during high-speed driving than conventional steering by changing the gear ratio. The problem occurs at low speed when manoeuvring the steering wheel to full lock position. If the driver then returns the steering wheel very fast, this could lead to a steering wheel off-centre condition even though the driving wheels would be straight. This phenomenon will be resolved automatically in a few seconds and the driver may notice this correction as the steering wheel centre moves slowly by itself to the centre position when driving straight during the correction operation. The driver remains in control of the vehicle as the steering wheel self corrects itself. This description is as described in the MY10 LS 600h owner's handbook on page 361.VOSA have been notified that a recall will be initiated in the UK. VIN NUMBERS

LGBBR + SHARE Twitter Facebook Delicous Stumble Digg More... Humber Police declares Lexus LS 600h ‘excellent’ Ever wondered what it would be like to be a VIP for the day? Being chauffeured around between public events and expensive hotels in a luxury saloon sounds like the stuff of dreams for many – but what about the intense scrutiny and media attention that necessitate a constant personal security presence?
David Crouch from the Lexus Press Office got to experience all this and more when he took part in a Humber Police Protection Officer training day. The ten trainees had no idea what to expect from the day, designed to test skills such as discretion and public interaction.
David, posing as an MP, challenged the Protection Officers’ adaptability and professionalism by taking unscheduled detours, shopping trips and interviews throughout the day.
However, the real VIP – or should we say ‘VIV’ – was the LS 600h. It was selected to be the Principal Vehicle for the exercise, and so had to meet to a demanding set of criteria. And when we say ‘demanding’, we don’t mean that David insisted on Shiatsu acupressure massage seats, a roof-mounted LCD widescreen and an ultra-spacious cabin – though of course the LS has these too. To make the grade, everything from the rear light configuration to the ease with which passengers can carry weapons had to be taken into account. So how did the LS 600h do?
Very well, it turns out. ‘The LS 600h is the best protection car I have driven,’ the driver told the team during the exercise debrief. ‘I found the eight-hour drive a complete pleasure and suffered no fatigue.’ We’d expect nothing less from the LS 600h’s luxury driver’s seat, which offers comprehensive electric configuration and built-in seatback air conditioning.
‘In comparison to our previous vehicle, the Lexus LS 600h offers a height advantage and higher driving position. The height of the rear seats and door positions make for a smooth and unhindered exit.’ Clearly, the team was impressed by the comfort and meticulous attention to detail that Lexus is noted for.
‘Overall the vehicle performed excellently,’ the driver continued. ‘The LS 600h is ideal in my opinion for protection operations’. To find out more about the LS 600h, click here. The revised range now centres on the five-seat LS 600h L long-wheelbase model, equipped with a Rear Seat Relaxation Package. 18 Mar 2010 Rear Seat Relaxation Package
Lexus has made the LS 600h L’s Rear Seat Relaxation Package available as an option for five as well as four-seat models. It provides a series of features that provide a truly first class travelling environment.
The package equips the left hand rear seat (on right-hand drive models) with an electrically adjustable ottoman foot and thigh rest and an adjustable massage function that can replicate techniques from Shiatsu to acupressure. The seat is fitted with seat cushion airbag and, to give a clear view, the front passenger headrest can be electrically folded down. All rear seats have an electric recline adjustment.
The features include a more sophisticated climate control system that monitors the passengers’ body temperature for more effective control of the cabin environment. For the four seat version, a fixed centre console is provided with a built-in cool box, DVD and CD store and a retracting and adjustable wood inlaid tray.
Where four seats are specified, the rear seat entertainment system features a roof-mounted nine-inch VGA LCD monitor; with the five-seat option the screen is centre console mounted.
Headlight technology
The advanced headlight system is further improved with the adoption of automatic high beam operation. A sensor in the rear view mirror detects on-coming traffic, streetlights and vehicles ahead and automatically switches the headlight high beam on and off as conditions require.
The Lexus LS was the first car in the world to feature LED technology for low beam headlights. It offers exceptional illumination power across the full width of the road, without causing glare for oncoming traffic. The units use less power than conventional lamps and light up almost instantaneously. Their design, with a transparent blue ring around each of the three projector lenses, gives the LS 600h an unmistakeable headlamp signature.
The effectiveness of the headlights is further increased by the Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), which swivels the headlamp units in line with vehicle speed and steering angle to improve illumination through bends at junctions and when turning into parking places.
Brembo braking technology
The performance of the LS 600h’s electronically controlled braking has been improved by 12.5 per cent. The 380 mm ventilated front discs brakes are equipped with six-piston callipers, discs and pads of which have been jointly developed with Brembo. Featuring high mu pads to reduce abnormal noise and vibration, the new brakes provide excellent feel and the fade-free, high speed stopping power.
HDD satellite navigation and sound library
In common with its sister Lexus models, the 2010 LS 600h adopts a 40GB hard disc drive (HDD) system to support its satellite navigation. The HDD also provides 10GB storage for an on-board sound library of digital files.
Exterior styling and colours
The 2010 LS 600h can be identified from its new front grille and front and rear bumper design. Signature LED sidelights have also been added, together with turn indicator lamps integrated in the door mirrors. The range of exterior colours has been revised, including the introduction of a new shade, Crystal Sapphire.
Interior features
The 2010 LS 600h gains new LCD dashboard instrumentation and improved “butterfly” design headrests. All versions of the car now benefit from the Rear Seat Upgrade Package, which includes four-
zone climate control, a multi-function rear centre armrest with through-hatch into the boot, rear side airbags, electric sunshades on the rear doors, electrically adjustable rear seats with memory settings, lumbar massage and integrated air conditioning and roof-mounted air conditioning diffusers. About Us 2010 Lexus LS600 Hybrid revealed at IAA Wednesday, September 16, 2009 13:35 by Arman Barari Lexus LS600h is one of the most anticipated cars by the Japanese manufacturer because it was the first full hybrid model in the luxury segment. Now at 2009 Frankfurt Motorshow, Lexus unveils an updated version of this fine and clean super saloon, which comes with new technological and styling improvements for 2010. It clearly has Mercedes S400 Hybrid in sight!
2010 LS600h gets a tweaked version of Lexus’ hybrid platform with a new ECO mode which enhances the throttle response, and that results in better fuel efficiency. So no matter how aggressive you hit the pedal, the car will govern it to be soft and gentle! So the combination of the 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine and 165kW electric motor produces a maximum 439bhp and 520Nm of torque, which means 0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds and average fuel consumption of 30.4 MPG, which considering the segment, are really astonishing numbers.
The batteries of the hybrid system are also repackaged in favor of more luggage space in the boot. There is also a new Brembo braking system with larger discs for more stopping power.
The styling of the LS600h is also a bit tweaked. You get a newly designed chrome grille, redesigned air intakes and foglamps along with new color for the headlights called Lexus hybrid blue. Add to the list new LED indicators. Inside you get some new toys to play with, a new full colour, TFT LCD display. A new meter design features a three-ring analogue dial with a central speedometer, a tachometer and coolant temperature gauge to the left, and a fuel gauge and hybrid system indicator to the right and above all a new 40GB multimedia/navigation system.
